Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Ian K. Robinson has been awarded the Humboldt Research Award for his pioneering contributions to the structure determination of solid surfaces using x-ray diffraction techniques. He discovered that peculiar features in the x-ray surface diffraction pattern carry a unique in situ information on the microscopic arrangement of the atoms at and near the surface. During his Humboldt stay in Germany, he is embarking upon the first direct observation of the Helmholtz double layer which emerges at electrolyte-interface and plays a fundamental role in all electrolytic processes. |
